This small island town has more to offer than just accommodating  your trip to Tikal. Wonder down the colourful streets and go for a dip on the lake’s beaches.

We stayed at Los Amigos which is located in the centre of town. They also have a restaurant, a late night bar and a spa. They are very respectful of their guests and make sure any area close to the rooms are quiet by 10pm.

Take a boat tour to... the mirador. Set across the river this short walk up a hill has wonderful views of Flores’ town centre.

Go to the ‘beach’. Next to the mirador you can unwind and have a swim in the lake at this so called playa. Don’t expect big things, it’s just a nice way to spend the day.

If you’re feeling adventurous go to the rope swings. You can jump in using the rope swings or simply chill on a tube in the river. There’s also plenty of deckchairs to sunbathed on and a small restaurant selling nachos and beers.

Walk around town and lost yourself in all the little streets and colourful houses.

Los amigos restaurant:I would recommend the salads there, they are mouth watering delicious 🤤

Mayacana: this veggie eatery offers great seating upstairs overlooking the river. The food is delicious and they have a very extended list of teas too. The best thing though is the fireman pole you can take down from the rooftop ;)

Cool Beans cafe: this is the best breakfast spot in town, they’ve got board games there too. Relax and enjoy some delicious eggs in one of the garden tables with views of the lake.
